To get started competing in online battles, it is not sufficient just
to catch the Pokémon you want to use. There are some mandatory steps
to carry out in order to make your Pokémon viable for online fighting.
Here you can see what you have to do:
Maximize DV: Use "Gold Bottle Cap" for maximizing ALL DVs
or use "Silver Bottle Cap" to maximize one stat of your choice
Maximize EV: Use "Feathers" for 1EV each and "Vitamins" for
10EV each
Learn recommended attacks: Use "TMs" or level up
Check your ability: Does your Pokémon already have its
recommended ability? If not, use "Ability Capsule" to switch
between both of your abilities or use "Ability Patch" to switch to
your hidden ability
Check your Tera Type: Does your Pokémon already have the
recommended Tera Type? If not: Collet 50 "Tera Shards"
Get prefered item: Give your Pokémon your preferred item.
If you don't have it, look up where you can find it!
Overview: Dragonite Moveset
In this example, let us train a Dragonite, a solid S-Tier
Pokémon. Here we use a physical sweeper build to maximize attack power
while being extremely fast in order to assure to attack before your
opponent:
Level 100
Nature: Jolly (+Speed, -SpATK)
DV All stats maximized, but maximizing SpATK is not
mandatory, just optional
EV Spread: 4HP, 252 ATK, 252 Speed
Attacks: Outrage, Hurricane, Extreme Speed, Fire Punch
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Normal
Item: Weakness Policy
Outrage is Dragonite strongest move and can outright KO Pokemon
that don't resist or are immune to Dragon Type moves.
Hurricane is its secondary stab and also quite powerful,
although inaccurate. Extreme Speed is a powerful priority move
that goes before other priorty attacks, such as Quick Attack. It also
gains STAB when Dragonite Terastallizes into a Normal Type, and allows
Dragonite to potentially knock out faster but frailer threats. Its
final move is Fire Punch, providing great neutral coverage and
hits Steel Type threats like Gholdengo and Scizor for super effective
damage. This build uses Weakness Policy, an item that raises
the Pokemon's attack and special attack by two stages when it is hit
by a super-effective move. Thanks to Dragonite's
Multiscale Ability, it can survive a super-effective hit and
get a boost from its item!
Training
First of all, you have to own a Dragonite. If not, make sure to catch
one in a Tera Raid. Alternively, catch a Dratini or Dragonair and
evolve it to Dragonite. BE CAREFUL: If you have to train and
evolve a Dratini or Dragonair,
do not send them to fight! Instead, use Candy to make sure to
avoid distributing EV you don't need! When you have a Dragonite,
follow these steps:
Train until your Dragonite reaches Level 99! To achieve
this, use Candy! You can get Candy easily by doing some high level
Tera Raids!
Check the nature of your Dragonite! It needs to have a
jolly nature. If it hasn't, use a "Jolly Mint".
Check our DV by using your Pokémon Box! Use "Bottle Caps"
by visiting Montenevera and talking to the guy next to the snowman
behind the Pokémon Center. As mentioned before, you don't need to
maximize your SpATK stat.
Allocate your EV! Use 4 "Health Feathers", 25 "Protein" and
2 "Muscle Feathers", 25 "Carbon" and 2 "Speed Feathers"!
Attacks: Outrage, Fire Punch and Extreme Speed can be
learned directly by remembering these attacks. Hurricane can be
learnt by using "TM 160".
Ability: Multiscale This is the hidden ability of
Dragonite. To learn it, use a "Ability Patch"!
Check your Tera Type: It needs to be a "Normal" Tera Type.
If it isn't, collect 50 "Normal Tera Piece" and visit woman
sitting next to the bar in the restaurant in Medali to change your
current Tera Type to "Normal"!
Give your Dragonite the item "Weakness Policy"! Weakness
Policy can be obtained in the "Delibird Presents Shop" in Mesagoza
for 50000 Pokémon Dollars.
